Nordic Analog Network – Artist residency
Pilot Darkroom exchange: Helsinki/Oslo
The two community darkrooms of Helsinki/Finland and Oslo/Norway join together in an artist exchange opening up for one member from each darkroom to travel to and work in the other darkroom.
The artist residency will be 2-3 weeks during March-April 2022, and the exact dates will be agreed upon between the artist and the darkroom.
Travel and accommodation is covered but the artist need to pay for their own living costs and any materials they want to use.
There will be help given for the artist to apply for further funding for the residency to cover the remaining costs.
During their stay the invited photographers are free to work with whatever project they want. They are asked to leave a print with the host darkroom. The guest photographer is encouraged to do some form of presentation of their work at the darkroom they are visiting and can ask for help to organize other activities if they want to hold a workshop, do a small show, meet other artists or galleries and the like. We hope the photographer also will share their experience and what they have learned, after returning to their home darkroom.
Any member of the two darkrooms can apply for this Artist Residency and it is free to apply.
Based on the applications each darkroom will decide who they want to invite for the guest stay and work out the details of dates and program with the invited artist directly.
Application deadline: 10th January
Application should be sent as a single PDF document and include 5-10 images, short description of planned work, CV and bio. Please use the application form as a template.
Invitations to selected artists sent out: 20th January

This collaboration between the two darkrooms is set up as a pilot to test how a Nordic collaboration between the darkrooms in different countries can work.
The project is supported by The Nordic Culture Fund.
Having this artist exchange will hopefully be the start of an ongoing exchange between community darkrooms in the Nordic countries.
