Mørkeromskurs 201 - Avansert kopieringsteknikk

This will be a one whole day workshop with guided practical printing excercise in the darkroom, looking at useful tips and personal follow up to improve your printing technique. The focus will be on fibre paper silver gelatin printing, correct dodging and burning and how to incoporate in your workflow useful post processing practices like reducing and toning.

The workshop instructor is visiting Oslo, while exhibiting first at the Oslo Negativ Photofestival and then at the Nordic Analog Photography exhibition at Gamle Munch Kunsthall opening the 15th November.


Darkroom 201 - Advanced B&W printing technique
We look at standard practices for the set up of equipment and chemicals, best workflow training and personal follow up on printing technique. The participants all print their own negatives, or can borrow negatives to use. The aim is to be safe and secure in ones own practice and improve ones choices and results in the fibre printing process.

A focus on personal follow up and improvement of printing technique.
The workshop is suitable for anyone with some experience in darkroom work and balck & white silvergelatin printing, and wanting som feedback and guidance on improvement. The workshop will be useful for both the experienced and the newcomer to the analog darkroom practice.

Katri Krohn Lassila is a Finnish photographic artist and Doctor of Arts from Aalto University. She has more than 25 years of darkroom experience and started out with Pentti Sammallahti as her mentor. Lassila has had over 20 solo exhibitions in Finland and abroad and in addition to regularly teaching darkroom classes both at the community darkroom in Helsinki and at the Aalto University she also works as a curator and portfolio reviewer.
Katri is one of the founding members of the
Finnish Darkroom Association, the Helsinki Darkroom Festival and the Nordic Analog Network.

Bring your own developed BW negatives, 35mm, medium format or up to 4x5” that you want to work with and print from.
All materials included.
You should have some experience printing bw paper photos, or have done the introclass 101 or 103 before.

Mørkerom 201 - Advanced Fibre Printing
This darkroom printmaking workshop teaches advanced silver gelatin printmaking techniques.

The course is suitable for you who have a basic level of printmaking skills, want to print on fiber paper, and get some guidance on how to improve your printing technique and post processing like toning and reducing. The workshop also will go through specific advice on the use of additional dodging and burning.
You will work with printing your own negatives alongside other photographers, and get a personal follow up from the instructor.
