Du kan komme innom mørkerommet for å se månedens utstiling og kikke gjennom eller kjøpe bilder laget for hånd av fotografene som arbeider her. Eller om du bor lenger unna er det også mulig å bla gjennom tilgjengelige bilder på webgalleriet.
I juli viser vi bildene "Patterns of Disappearance - work in progress” av fotograf Silvia De Giorgi.
-This experimental project was initiated during an artist residency in Helsinki, as part of the Nordic Analog Network darkroom exchange. The series consists of lumen prints in various sizes, which were created in different locations in the coastal areas of Helsinki, using seawater, ice, and organic matter trapped inside the ice like rocks, sand, and algae. The prints document the melting process of the ice and the marks and patterns left on the photographic surface by its slow progress of disappearance.
My work as a photographer is mainly focused on the natural environment. In my practice, I reflect on mankind's historical relationship to the land and I continuously question my own impact as an artist on the natural surrounding. The project reflects on the impermanence of the natural environment and the fragility of our human presence in the landscape.
Silvia De Giorgi comes from Italia and is currently living and working in Norway. She had studied photography and drawing at the University of the Arts London in additon to art and archeology at the University of the Highlands - Orkney.
These are works from a project initiated during the pilot artist residency for the Nordic Analog Network darkroom exchange. Silvia De Giorgi usually works at CYAN darkroom in Oslo, but was invited for an artist residency at the darkroom of the Finnish Darkroom Association in Helsinki. Likewise, the Finnish analog photo artist Patrick Kuoppamäki was invited for a stay at the CYAN darkroom in Oslo.
A second round of the darkroom exchange is now open for all photo artists in the two countries to apply for an artist residency. Deadline 15. August. More details of the Open Call here.
