CYAN studio invites our eight artist in residence from the Nordic Analog Network darkroom exchange

Nordic Analog Network is a collaboration between open darkrooms in all the Nordic countries. There are currently 12 darkrooms connected through the network and a program of artist residencies organized as an exchange program across the Nordic region.
The goal is to facilitate a sharing of contacts and experience between photographers working with analogue processes.
All together the Nordic Analog Network will be inviting 6 photographers to take part in their series of artist residencies this year.

CYAN darkroom is happy to announce that we are inviting Theo Elias from Stockholm, Sweden and we are looking forward to introducing him to our community in Oslo in August.

There were so many impressively inspiring applications and we had a hard time choosing only one guest artist. But now we are all super excited to meet our invited guest, and then we will look forward to see if any of the other photographers will stop by for a visit to take a look at the darkness on their own initiative!
Theo Elias explores a variety of photographic printing processes and techniques and works with long term projects focusing on personal poetic narratives rooted in documentary photography. He got his MFA in photography at Valand university in Gothenburg. Ha has been a curator for Breadfield Gallery in Malmö, assisted Magnu photographer Jonas Bendiksen and he is the founder of the Studio Tabac photocollective in Stockholm.
While in Oslo he will continue his work on his ongoing project “Poppy”, that has been both presented as a prizewinning photobook dummy and in several exhibitions, while it is still in the making. He also hopes to connect with the Norwegian photocommunity while he is here and we will facilitate meetings and networking opportunities while he is here. And our darkroom is of course open for visitors as always so feel free to stop by if you want to meet up with our guest while he is in town!

We will host an open “Meet the artist” meeting at the CYAN darkroom when Theo Elias arrives, a workshop during his stay and maybe also a talk and presentation some time later during the residency period.
